BMW is a highly reputable automaker that needs no introduction. The German automaker’s expertise in combining luxury and performance has made it one of the automotive industry’s biggest and most successful innovators.
Nicknamed the ‘ultimate driving machine,’ BMW has had its ups and downs, but today, it remains the top choice for buyers looking for blistering acceleration with a touch of luxury and class.
For the 2022 model year, BMW’s lineup of first-class vehicles has seen new additions and jaw-dropping redesigns to keep it as stellar as ever.
Here are the significant changes in BMW’s lineup for 2022
The 2022 i4 is an all-new fully-electric mid-size sedan. The major highlight of this car is its high-tech interior. It features a gigantic display dashboard that comprises a 14.1-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital panel—this massive display system runs on the company’s latest iDrive8 infotainment software. The new i4 is powered by an 81.5 kWh battery and will be available in two trims; the rear-wheel-drive 335-hp eDrive40 model and the M50 all-wheel-drive model that generates up to 536-horses.
The 2022 iX will be BMW’s first-ever all-electric SUV. The new iX gets its groundbreaking design from the BMW‘s Vision iNext concept displayed back in 2018. The all-new iX receives an extensive suite of cutting-edge features and a roomy interior that screams luxury. The new iX is powered by a 106.3-kWh battery and comes with an AWD powertrain that produces up to 600-horsepower.
The X8 will be an all-new luxury SUV when it launches later in 2022. It is closely related to the full-size luxury X7. BMW has not said anything about the specifications and features of the new X8.
2022 X3 and X3 M
Both the X3 and its performance variant get a satisfying exterior refresh for 2022. The xDrive 30e plug-in hybrid model of the X3 has been replaced with a new 48V hybrid model. The X3M also gets a larger infotainment display and extra torque to enhance its acceleration.
2022 X4 and X4M
BMW gives the X4 and X4M a couple of exterior tweaks and an upgraded infotainment display. The regular 2022 X4 gets a 48V hybrid system on its top trim, while the 2022 X4M’s engine gets more engine tunning to produce more torque to enhance its acceleration.
For 2022, the M4 will have a convertible trim added to its lineup, along with an all-wheel-drive option for its top trim.
BMW will add a special limited edition call the Black Vermilion to the 2022 X5 lineup. This trim will feature a nature-inspired black and red exterior. Only 350 units of this model will be available in the US market.
BMW’s 2-series receives a fresh redesigning to mark the car’s next generation. The all-new 2-series is roomier than its predecessor and boasts more state-at-art features.
The rest of BMW’s lineup gets minor upgrades and reshuffled trim offerings.
