Certainly, everyone loves luxury. A luxury car can be a great source of pride and joy to the owner. The value of such vehicles also seems so profitable. However, as not everyone can afford to buy or obtain a lease on a luxury vehicle of choice, resorting to getting such lush vehicles at all costs even at the price of stealing is not only unhealthy for you and poses a great risk to most auto dealers.
In recent times, the drive to have a feel of luxurious rides has led to an increase in the incident of luxury auto thefts, the world over, particularly in Long Island.
About a couple of months back, intense investigations on the unending, impulsive strings on the theft of high-end luxurious vehicles on Long Island was launched by the Nassau County Police Department in August after an Audi was reported stolen in Garden City Park.
On Wednesday, the 25th of September, the labor of the investigative team of the County Police paid off as out of the three suspects, fingered to be the mastermind of the luxury car heist, the Police duly arrested two suspects. The suspects are residents of Queens, Matthew Garcia, 21, and Jorge Alvarez, 18. Both were arrested at queens. The third suspect, as of the time of the arrest, was believed to be at large.
However, as fickle fate may have it, on the Friday of October 11, the Nassau County Police arrested the third suspect, Elmhurst resident Derby Collaguazo. The third suspect was subsequently charged for his role in the very much talked about car heist.
Alas, dealers of luxury cars on Long Island, could enjoy even the miniature degree of peace of mind, knowing fully well that the Police are always there for them. However, more drastic measures are still needed to be installed to forestall any luxurious auto theft in the near future.
The third suspect, so apprehended, was charged with three counts of second-degree grand larceny, three counts of third-degree grand larceny, and four counts of fourth-degree grand larceny. The suspect was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Friday.
The three marauders, according to the Police, are charged with theft of various luxurious vehicles on eight different instances.
One is the theft of a 2017 Audi A4, on August 26th night and August 27th morning, at Stratford Road in Garden City Park.
The second was for a Mercedes GS450, stolen around evening time on 20th September and 21st September morning, along Mimosa Drive in East Hills.
On the same 20th and 21st September, at night and late morning hours respectively, a 2016 Audi was allegedly stolen at Poplar Drive in East Hills.
On the same 21st September, a Mercedes and Cadillac Escalade was stolen from Sycamore Drive in East Hills.
A 2018 Lexus RX 350 was stolen from The Pines in Old Westbury, on 23rd September.
On the same day, 23rd September, a 2019 Infiniti QX60 and a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette were stolen from The Pines in Old Westbury.
On and on their escapades go. Alvarez and Garcia were also charged with separate but relative count charges, all revolving around burglary and larceny.
